Gundala was once the Indonesia's most popular superhero back in the 60's until early 80's. The character was created by Hasmi, as you can see it was heavily influenced by DC's The Flash.

there are also a lot of characters that were heavily influenced by the western's superheroes such as Superman, Batman, Spider-man, etc etc. basically it's a 'rip-off' if you may call it. but those were very popular back in the old days.
